Avant la fin de la législature (6 ans), le Chancelier fédéral ne peut-être remplacé que par un vote de défiance constructif au cours duquel le Bundesversammlung propose un successeur à la majorité absolue. En cas de décès ou de démission, c'est l'ensemble du gouvernement fédéral qui prend fin.

La Chancelière fédérale d'Edelweiss (Bundeskanzler Edelweiss) est la cheffe du gouvernement de la République fédérale d'Edelweiss. Avec les ministres fédéraux, ils forment le Gouvernement fédéral (Bundesregierung).

Le Chancelier fédéral détermine et dirige l'action du gouvernement qui dépend des idées de son parti et de ses partenaires de coalition. Il est nommé par le Bundespräsident selon l'équilibre des forces au sein du Bundesversammlung, puisque le gouvernement fédéral ne peut être maintenu que si la confiance est accordée, et jusqu'à ce qu'il la conserve.

Avant la fin de la législature (6 ans), le Chancelier fédéral ne peut-être remplacé que par un vote de défiance constructif au cours duquel le Bundesversammlung propose un successeur à la majorité absolue. En cas de décès ou de démission, c'est l'ensemble du gouvernement fédéral qui prend fin.

Depuis le 27 août 216, Nina Schewer occupe la fonction de Chancelière.
